Foliony
Foliony - species bred in the laboratory. Due to an error by one of Princess Celestia's laboratory assistants, ponies of this species have new abilities and features.
The name of their species comes from the words Foliage and pony.
The species is closed and is currently still in development.
Basic information
Foliony are a unique species that emerged as a result of magical experiments utilizing elements of harmony. Their most distinctive feature is the magical stones that replaced their auditory organs and became their primary source of magical energy. The experiments to create Foliony were conducted in specially equipped laboratories with the aim of studying early illnesses in foals. These artificially bred beings acquired not only unique physical traits but also a specific temperament: they are friendly, kind, and sociable. However, much like children, Foliony can be resentful. If someone wrongs them, they will cease to acknowledge that pony and will never forgive them.

Appearance

Male and female Foliony
The first thing that catches the eye is their magical gems. The placement of these gems depends on their race: for unicorns, they are located on the head, while for pegasi, they are on the chest.Foliony are distinguished by their harmonious appearance: petals resembling flower petals grow on their heads and tails—two pairs on the head and two on the tail. For females, the petals are of equal length, whereas for males, the lower pairs are shorter.
The coat color of females and males differs. Both on the head and the body, there is a distinct pattern that extends all the way to the tail. The difference lies in the fact that the color of females is softer and runs along the front hooves, while for males, the pattern extends across the chest and shoulders.

Foliony color
The color and shape of the petals reflect a Foliony's affiliation with a specific flower, but they can vary due to genetic traits or laboratory alterations.Upon the death of a Foliony, a flower corresponding to them remains at the spot of their body. This is a natural defense mechanism against the malicious use of their magical gems. The gems cannot be extracted from the flower, preventing their exploitation for selfish purposes.

Matching of flowers and petals
Foliony are significantly larger than ordinary ponies: the average height of females is 152 cm, and males are 162 cm tall. Their height can vary depending on genetics and special status, such as royal lineage. Despite their size, they maintain grace and softness in their movements, which highlights their connection with nature and magic.

The ratio of Foliony and pony growth
The petals continue to grow throughout their lives, so they are periodically trimmed using special lotions. These lotions are applied to the part of the petals that needs to be removed, after which the petals take on the desired length.

Lotions for Foliony
After losing the ability to hear through their ears, Foliony adapted to perceiving sound vibrations through their magical gems. These gems not only provide them with hearing but also perform many other functions, including supporting magical energy and interacting with the environment. The gems are extremely durable; they cannot be broken or removed without destroying the magical connection to the organism.

Foliony and hearing
Foliony, like ordinary ponies, mature and grow in the same way. With the help of mentors, the first creature was taught to perceive sound waves. Later, Foliony are trained either by their parents or by mentors, as without this, a foal will not be able to socialize. When they turn one year old, the parents (or mentors) teach the foals how to use their magical gems.

This species has three main race — earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns — each of which has unique traits and limitations when it comes to using magical abilities. The race is determined by the genetics of the parents, but the use of harmony magical gems makes Foliony more powerful than their Equestrian counterparts.Foliony-unicorns are the most common, but if the parents have wings, the likelihood of a pegasus being born is 50%. If the parents have neither horns nor wings, then depending on the genetics, either a unicorn or an earth pony can be born.
Foliony and unicorns have a lot in common, and their use of magic is the same. The only difference is that Foliony are slightly stronger than regular unicorns due to the use of harmony gems in their creation process. For pegasi, the magical gems granted them the ability to fly. However, the magical abilities of Foliony pegasi are quite limited; they cannot use magic like unicorns. The power of their magical gems is only enough to enable flight and communication.

The connection of the magic gem with the magic of unicorns
Unlike Foliony unicorns and Foliony pegasi, earth ponies have a minimal connection between their magical gems and their abilities. Their magical energy is only enough to maintain communication with other individuals, but it is insufficient for using magic like Foliony unicorns or flying like Foliony pegasi. Despite this, earth ponies possess other talents and actively participate in the life of their society, supported by the care and attention of their kin.
The gems of Foliony emit a soft glow that reflects the inner qualities of their owner. The shape and structure of the gem are directly linked to the character of the Foliony: round gems indicate a gentle and kind personality, while angular ones suggest a more determined and mature character.

Character according to the shape of the gem.
Communication. Foliony perceive sound waves through their magical gems, which gives their communication a unique character. From an early age, parents or mentors help foals learn to work with the gems, playing a key role in their development. Mentors become guides for young Foliony into a wondrous world full of possibilities, revealing their abilities and helping them find their place in society.
Known for their kindness and sincerity, Foliony are always ready to respond to a call for help. They will be a reliable support in difficult situations and will do everything to ensure you never feel alone.By befriending a Foliony, you will gain a loyal and devoted friend who will always be by your side. However, these beings greatly value sincerity and kindness. If you wrong them, their trust will be lost forever, and they will sever the bond, no matter how strong it seemed.

Deviations and mutations. Foliony typically have four petals on their head and tail, as well as a long tail, which are the main features of their harmonious appearance. However, sometimes deviations and mutations occur, caused by the genetic traits of the parents or the influence of laboratory conditions.
Mutations can be both unique and inherited. For example, if one of the parents had a tail resembling that of a dinosaur, the offspring may inherit this feature.Below are the main possible deviations and mutations.

Deviations and mutations
Due to the diversity of subspecies and their long coexistence with the inhabitants of Equestria, Foliony have developed several generations:

Foliony Generations
Species
At the moment there are
5 species of Foliony:

main species
Petal Foliony – the most common subspecies. The first Foliony beings were of the Petal subspecies.
Coat color differs between females and males. Both on the head and the body, there is a distinct pattern that extends all the way to the tail. The difference is that females have a softer color, which runs along the front hooves. In males, the pattern extends across the chest and shoulders. The color runs along the back and down to the tail.

Sea Foliony are one of the possible varieties of Foliony. Sea Foliony are identical to Petal Foliony in every way.

Fins of sea Foliony
The main difference is their affiliation with marine creatures, which is why instead of hind hooves, Sea Foliony have a tail.On the head of Sea Foliony, there are fins, which are divided into sections. Females have two, while males have one.The fin on the back is the same petal as those on the head of the Foliony. It's very short, but it helps the pony swim.Petal and Sea Foliony have the same coat color location.

Fruit Foliony, like Sea Foliony, are one of the possible varieties of Foliony.
Fruit Foliony, like Petal Foliony, have four petals on their head and tail, but one of the pairs is replaced by fruit leaves instead of flower petals. Females may have "buds" instead of petals, with fruit leaves being the primary feature."Fruit leaves" can vary in size, but there is still a noticeable gender difference.Petal, Sea, and Fruit Foliony represent a specific flower, but for Fruit Foliony, it is the flower of a fruit. The cut section of the fruit is located on the inner side of the front hooves. Their appearance is often associated with the aromas and colors of fruits. This subspecies typically lives in orchards and contributes to the growth of plants.

Color of Fruit Foliony
There are 4 places for drawing in the color: 3 mandatory and 1 additional.
Main pattern - it is located on the head and tail, and has the same sexual characteristics as petal Foliony.
Fruit pattern - from the name it follows that this is a picture of a ruined fruit, it is located on the inside of the front hooves.
Second main pattern is a pattern located on the front hooves, and has the sexual characteristics of a Foliony.
Additional pattern - the possible location of another drawing, depending on the fruit.

Winter Foliony are an amazing subspecies that inhabit the snow-covered regions of Equestria. These creatures possess many unique traits that help them survive in cold climates.
Fur coat: Winter Foliony are renowned for their luxurious fur that covers their neck and hooves. This dense and warm fur not only protects them from harsh winter temperatures but also gives them an elegant and attractive appearance.

Cold endurance: Members of this subspecies are perfectly adapted to life in low temperatures. They can endure extreme cold, allowing them to stay outside even on the snowiest days without harming their health.

Robotic Foliony are an artificially created subspecies of Foliony, designed to mimic their petal counterparts. Their metallic bodies, made of durable and lightweight alloys, reflect a utilitarian design optimized for maximum functionality.

The visual system of Robotic Foliony deserves special attention: their narrow vertical pupils provide incredible clarity of vision, making them particularly effective in low-light conditions or when performing tasks that require high precision. This aspect sets them apart from Petal Foliony, giving them a clear advantage in tasks related to visual analysis.

The main feature of Robotic Foliony is their desire to mimic the behavior and skills of the Petal subspecies, including movements, gestures, and basic social interactions. However, their mechanical origin and programmable nature make them less emotional and sociable than their living prototypes. Despite this, Robotic Foliony persistently attempt to reproduce the nuances of communication and behavior to appear more "alive."
Their metallic nature, emotional restraint, and strict pragmatism make Robotic Foliony unique representatives of their kind, highlighting the balance between natural aesthetics and technological perfection.

Color of Robotic Foliony
Robotic Foliony were created as a response to historical challenges associated with the primary Foliony species. In the past, Foliony, being creatures with unique abilities and significant potential, caused considerable damage during the early stages of their existence in Equestria. Although their behavior stabilized over time and they ceased to pose a threat, the need for additional control over their population, habitat, and behavior remained relevant.

The creation of Robotic Foliony was the result of this attempt at control. These artificial counterparts were developed with the goal of monitoring the Foliony, as well as interacting with them to minimize potential risks. The robots serve as regulators, capable of intervening in the event of sharp changes in behavior or population numbers. Their metallic bodies, high-precision vision, and ability to mimic the behavior of the Petal subspecies allow them to remain inconspicuous among their natural counterparts and effectively carry out observation tasks.Originally conceived as a means of control, their purpose has evolved over time. Robotic Foliony now play the role of intermediaries, helping to create harmonious coexistence between the natural and technological realms. However, despite the absence of a direct threat from the Foliony today, the very existence of their robotic counterparts serves as a reminder of the lessons of the past and the fact that balance always requires monitoring and adjustment.

Generation
Due to the species diversity and coexistence with the inhabitants of Equestria, Foliony have developed several generations:

Foliony Generations
Zero generation

These are purebred representatives of the Foliony, the first and only individuals that can be obtained exclusively in laboratory conditions.
Zero individuals can belong to any subspecies.
Only Foliony genes and samples of the desired flower are used in their creation.
The result of any breeding involving zero individuals is always a Foliony.
Zero generation examples
First generation

Representatives of this generation are born as a result of the breeding of Foliony from the zero generation.
They can be obtained both in a laboratory and in the natural environment.
In laboratory conditions, only one parent can participate, with the addition of extra genes or mutations.
The offspring is always a Foliony.
Delphinium Flower and dragon genes
Black Lily and zebra genes
The name of the flower is unknown and the genes of kirin
The name of the flower is unknown and the genes of the zebra
Second generation

These are Foliony that appeared as a result of breeding first-generation representatives with ponies of any race.
The probability of a Foliony appearance:
In laboratory conditions — 50%.
In natural reproduction — 30%.
If a pony is born, there is a chance (25% in the laboratory, 30% in natural conditions) that it will inherit the coat color or traits from the Foliony.
At the moment there are no examples of the second generation
New generation

Offspring of the second generation, obtained as a result of breeding with ponies of any race.
They can be obtained both in laboratory conditions and through natural reproduction. The probability of Foliony appearance is higher in natural reproduction.
The probability of Foliony appearance:
In the laboratory — 30%.
In natural reproduction, the probability is higher, reaching 25%.
If a pony is born, it may inherit the color of Foliony with a 15% chance.
Generation feature:
A mutation is possible where offspring develop a fur coat on their heads, causing the number of petals to become even.
They can be obtained both in the laboratory and in the natural environment. With natural reproduction, the probability is higher.
Earth generation

Representatives of this generation can only be obtained in the natural environment, as a result of breeding a Foliony from the new generation with earth ponies.
Probability of Foliony appearance:
Foliony (any race) + earth pony: 30%.
Foliony (earth) + earth pony: 50%.
Foliony (earth) + pony (pegasus/unicorn): 40%.
Generation feature:
Some individuals develop a defect in the magical stone, making it unable to accumulate enough magic for transformation into a unicorn or pegasus. However, the stone still has enough energy for communication and sustaining life.
Such a defective stone has a characteristic misty appearance.
Reproduction
The reproduction of Foliony can occur both naturally and in laboratory conditions. In laboratory conditions, a special device called an incubator was developed for the continuation of the species and deeper study of Foliony behavior. This allows for the exploration of population diversity and their characteristics. For breeding Foliony in the laboratory, representatives of the species as well as different breeds of ponies are used. Additionally, specific mutations and genes from other creatures, such as dragons, kirins, mules, donkeys, and others, may be applied. This opens up opportunities for creating unique individuals with diverse characteristics and for more precise control over the breeding process.

The principle of Foliony reproduction
Crossing ponies in the laboratory is a rather complicated process. And at the moment there is no manual for understanding this concept.
